The National Federation used the occasion to distribute baseball and softball material to various clubs.

"I've always dreamt of the possibility of interacting with kids from all over the world through baseball," commented the 507-career-home run hitter. The ultimate goal is to have an African Koshien.

The first event was on 27 November in the town of Yoff. The goal is to make the most of the Senegalese people familiar with the five-on-five version of baseball/softball within the Youth Olympic Games 2026.

"I'm excited about having the opportunity to help grow Gambia's stature in the international sporting world by improving the sharing of knowledge and expertise," she commented.

WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari, ANOCA President Mustapha Berraf (pictured signing with President Fraccari) and Olympafrica Foundation CEO Alassane Diack signed an MOU today in Crete, Greece. ASOIF President Francesco Ricci Bitti and ANOCA Secretary General Ahmed Abu Elgasim were also in attendance.

Danso will replace Albert Frimpong, the founder and past president of the federation who stepped down after over three decades of promoting and developing the sports in Ghana. 

The Central League team defeated Hauts-Bassins, 12-4, and claimed the maiden edition of the event.

Baseball5 has been a boost to baseball and softball's development and expansion efforts, particularly in Africa and Europe.

Requiring only a ball to play, Baseball5 will make its Youth Olympic Games debut at Dakar 2026 in Senegal, Africa.

Boyd was among the founding members of Nigeria's baseball and softball national governing body in 1989.
