Softball South Africa Compliance officers will be trained to ensure that all softball teams, players and fields in the nation are ready to start with practice sessions and games this month.

A total of 27 coaches from Egypt participated in the three-day online seminar, boosting Baseball5 development in the country.

A total of 25 players will train under head coach Chedli Mokrani and his staff through Saturday, 5 September.

Giza won the men's tournament, while Cairo claimed first place in the women's. The tournament was preceded by five years of training and development courses and tournaments.

A total of 12 teams from four zones are participating. The finals will begin on 6 September.

The six-team competition was played on 13 August. "We saw a lot of dedication, we awarded every participant," commented National Federation President Saber Jlajla.

The event will also celebrate National Women's Day in the North African country.

The inclusion of Baseball5 as a medal event on the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) sports programme showcases the sport’s youth appeal and is an unprecedented development opportunity to grow the game across Africa, but Baseball5’s YOG debut will have to wait until 2026.

A total of 40 baseball and softball coaches have been trained in the new discipline. "Easy to promote, you need only a ball and space," said Zimbabwe Baseball Association President Morris Banda.
