Abuja. The Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa, ANOCA, received with deep sorrow and consternation news of the demise, in Abuja, Nigeria, of Sone Abih Winslow, Director of Cabinet of the institution, on 12 May 2013.

The first 2 sessions of the 2013 IBAF Congress had a strong Olympic flavour, even if the launching of the World Baseball Softball Confederation is scheduled for the afternoon.
Tsunezaku Takeda, President of the Japanese Olympic Commitee, and Ryozo Kato, Commissioner of NPB, made both strong statements in favour of the reinstatement of baseball and softball in the Olympic Games. Takeda mentioned the importance the sports may have if the Games are played in Tokyo.

The national baseball camp for U-12 Under Baseball Team that will represent Nigeria in IBAF 12U Baseball World Cup in Taipei, China, has opened in Ibadan, Oyo state capital.

For the second year, Major League Baseball International (MLBI) will hold an African Elite Camp in Cape Town, South Africa from December 5-14th for 36 of Africa’s top young baseball players. Fifteen coaches from the participating nations – Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa and Uganda – are also on hand to learn from the experienced MLB staff. Majestic continues their sponsorship of MLBI game development programs with a financial contribution to the African Elite Camp.

The Cameroon Baseball and Softball Federation has organized a couple of softball and baseball tournaments this fall. They commenced in mid-October and will be concluded with the finals in early December.

Francoise Kameni Lele, Vice President of Baseball and Softball Federation of Cameroon and a member of International Softball Federation’s Task Force was the guest of honor at the luncheon jointly hosted by the officials of Baseball Federation of Japan and Japan Softball Association in Tokyo on September 24, 2012.
